Australian-American tenor Alexander Papandrea is an emerging artist and scholar based in Karlsruhe, Germany.

He has performed roles such as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Camille in The Merry Widow, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, and Orphée in Charpentier’s La descente d’Orphée aux enfers. In addition to standard repertoire, he has appeared in several world premieres, including Don Carlos in Carla Lucero’s Juana and Ludwig in Janice Hamer’s Lost Childhood. He was also a member of the Soldiers’ Chorus in the Music Academy of the West’s production of Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain.

In 2025, Papandrea returned to the stage as the Erste Gralsritter in Wagner’s Parsifal at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, and joined the Staatsopernchor of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

Alongside his performance career, Papandrea is an active scholar, having presented lectures on Bel Canto vocal technique and performance practice at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (MdW), the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, and soon, the Musik-Akademie Basel.
